Hopkins County Grand Jury Issues Indictments for Criminal Abuse, Arson, and Organized Crime

The Hopkins County Grand Jury returned several indictments from its November session, including charges of criminal abuse, arson, and organized crime.

Aaron Day and Krystal Day, both of Madisonville, were each indicted on a single count of first-degree criminal abuse of a minor under 12. According to the indictment, the charges stem from between 2019 and September 25, 2024.

The couple was arrested in September by Madisonville Police when they assisted the Department of Child-Based Services with a home visit on Woodlawn Street. During the investigation, police said they discovered one their three children, an 11-year old, was malnourished and subjected to cruel confinement and punishment.

De’Angelique McRath, Blasin Moore, Christopher Spivey, Alexia Stone, Dhye’Sienna Western and Imari Whitsell, all of Madisonville, were each indicted on first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and engaging in organized crime between January 1 and July 30.

A true bill was returned on Todd McVay of Clay on a charge of first-degree arson. The charge is from September 26 when Madisonville Police reported McVay used a mini-torch to ignite a shirt on the shelf at the Dollar General store at 3604 Hanson Road.

Florence Carner of Madisonville was indicted on charges of unlawful transaction with a minor and a misdemeanor offense. The indictment alleges that Carner caused a minor under 16 years old to engage in illegal activity between August and September 6.

A true bill was returned on Randall Brown of Madisonville on a single count of theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $10,000. Brown is accused of receiving an insurance check in the amount of $18,500 for roof repairs that were never performed.
