Drivers need to be aware that the City of Madisonville plans to start a beautification project this week at the intersection of North Main Street, Nebo Road, and Island Ford Road. The project will result in overnight lane restrictions and traffic shifts through Thursday morning.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, city crews will work nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. to convert existing concrete traffic islands into plantable flower beds. Officials said motorists should anticipate lane restrictions during working hours, including the potential reduction of two-lane roads to single lanes at times to accommodate equipment.
Officials said this is a city project being carried out under a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet permit.
