This week, the City of Madisonville celebrated the swearing-in of two new City Council members along with returning council members.

Marvin Hightower, representing Ward 2, and Glenda Wade, representing Ward 6, were sworn in by City Clerk Kim Blue. Wade secured her seat by winning 65% of the votes in the November General Election, compared to Jimmy Young’s 35%, while Hightower defeated Devi Thorpe with 54% of the votes.

City officials also celebrated the return and swearing-in of current City Council members: Ward 1 Councilwoman Misty Cavanaugh, Ward 3 Councilman Adam Townsend, Ward 4 Councilman Larry Noffsinger, and Ward 5 Councilman Frank Stevenson.

Hightower and Wade will officially assume their City Council seats at the first meeting in January.
