Madisonville Police say a man was arrested after a traffic stop of a suspected stolen vehicle on Wednesday vehicle.

According to police, Frank Maerz was stopped after a flock camera alerted Hopkins County Central Dispatch to a stolen vehicle traveling east on West Noel Avenue. Police said a K9 unit detected narcotics in the vehicle where officers found marijuana wax, a pipe used for smoking marijuana, and some cut-up straws inside a backpack.

Once Maerz was taken into custody and placed in the patrol vehicle, police stated that he became irate, began hitting his head against the back seat window, and started cursing, which prompted officers to use pepper spray to get him to stop.
