Officials with Hopkins County schools have announced teacher David Moss has been selected to represent Kentucky in SBO+ Magazine.
The December issue was released this week and features 50 Music Teachers Who Make A Difference.
According to district Communications and Community Engagement Specialist Lori Harrison, Moss teaches at both West Hopkins School and Hopkins County Central High School. He is the band director at WHS and an assistant at HCCHS.
In a written statement, Moss expressed his gratitude for being recognized by SBO Magazine but emphasized that the true difference makers are the students, parents, and colleagues he works with daily, who make his job the best in the school district. He added that he wakes up every day thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in his part of Hopkins County.
Harrison stated that this award recognizes music educators who exceed expectations to positively impact the lives of students and their communities through music.
She mentioned that Moss is unaware of who nominated him but expressed his gratitude to that individual. Harrison also noted that Moss previously received this award in 2006. She added that this marks the 25th year SBO+ has published this special edition.
West Hopkins Principal Eric Stone expressed that Moss’s receipt of a prestigious award is well-deserved, highlighting Moss’s exceptional dedication as a band instructor and his positive influence on the school and community. Stone emphasized Moss’s role as a mentor and his unwavering commitment to supporting all students. Similarly, Hopkins County Central Principal Mike Zimmer praised Moss for his compassion and caring nature, which significantly impacted his students’ lives.
