An attempted traffic stop in Caldwell County led to a pursuit into Hopkins County last week with the driver of the vehicle still at large.

Caldwell County Sheriff Don Weedman reports Deputy Ashley Copeland attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a black Infiniti that was missing a license plate on Friday, however, the driver did not comply and fled the scene.

Deputies Copeland and Anthony Brown reportedly pursued the vehicle from Caldwell County into Hopkins County, where the chase ended in the southbound lane of Interstate 69 when the vehicle became disabled. After the vehicle stopped, deputies said the driver fled on foot into the nearby woods and was unable to be located.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kentucky State Police and the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
