Gas Prices Still Falling In South Western Kentucky

Gas prices in west central Kentucky this past week finally normalized, and were on average four cents lower than last week — around $2.65 a gallon.

That’s according to the AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report, which also noted that prices were near $2.69 a gallon seven days ago, and around $2.76 a gallon a year ago.

In notable parts of the Commonwealth, it’s $2.59 in Bowling Green, $2.62 in Owensboro, $2.63 in Elizabethtown, $2.69 in Paducah and $2.70 in Louisville.

The national average for a gallon of gas is stable, and has yet to budge since last week, staying at $3.06.

Over 2024, the high point for the national average was $3.67 on April 19, and the low was $3.01 on December 10.

Today’s national average for a gallon of gas is four cents more than a month ago and a penny less than a year ago.

According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the United States produced more crude oil than any other nation in the six years from 2018-2023. Crude oil production in the United States averaged 12.9 million barrels daily in 2023, breaking the previous U.S. and global record of 12.3 million in 2019.

At the close of formal trading sessions 10 days ago, West Texas Intermediate had fallen 93 cents to settle at $73.32 a barrel.
