This past weekend marked a historic moment as the first Western Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Basic Training class began in-person sessions at the Madisonville campus.
During Tuesday night’s city council meeting, Madisonville Police Chief Steve Bryan said the first recruits arrived on Sunday.
click to download audioAccording to the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training officials, Class 558-W consists of 24 recruits who have completed 80 hours of online training.
In September, Governor Andy Beshear announced that, for the first time since 1998, the commonwealth would conduct simultaneous training at two locations — Richmond and Madisonville. He stated that the Department of Criminal Justice Training would utilize a building provided by the Madisonville Police Department while a $50 million multipurpose facility is being constructed in Madisonville.
