Madisonville Fire Chief Updates City Council on Hiring Phase

Madisonville’s Fire Chief presented the City Council with a detailed overview of the department’s activities in February, along with an update on the progress of their recruitment efforts.

During the City Council meeting, Chief Jason Eli reported that 30 applicants had taken the written test on Saturday, March 15. Once the tests are scored, he mentioned that they plan to proceed with interviews.

click to download audioHe also shared an update on the fire department’s February activities, which consisted of over 100 medical and fire responses.

click to download audioHe reported that they completed 1,300 training hours, conducted 63 pre-incident inspections, carried out 25 fire prevention inspections, and handled 178 code enforcement cases.

According to Chief Eli, their community outreach efforts last month included hosting eight community programs, distributing two smoke detectors, and engaging with 170 adults and 70 children.
