The community is invited to join officials with Hopkins County Schools for the groundbreaking ceremony of their new Central Office, set to take place Thursday afternoon.
The Hopkins County Board of Education reportedly acquired property at 2135 North Main Street in Madisonville for a new Central Office. School administrators noted that the district is currently operating out of the former Madisonville High School, which was built in 1922.
Officials state that the new facility will reduce repair and maintenance costs, provide energy savings, and accommodate the latest technology upgrades.
The board hired Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects for the project, approving the design development documents at their October 21 meeting last year. In February, they chose Garmong Construction as the general contractor, following their submission of the lowest base bid. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Central Office will be at 2135 North Main Street at 5:00 Thursday afternoon.
