During times of severe weather, weather officials encourage having multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.
University of Kentucky Senior Meteorologist Matt Dixon said a good way to receive information is through the new Kentucky Weather Alert app.
Dixon added the app will notify you of watches, warnings, and can tell you when lightning has been detected within 15 miles of your set locations.
He shared that you should have multiple ways to get alerted to severe weather and flood warnings – so you can take appropriate action.
