Officials have announced McLean County Schools will be completely shut down for all activities until further notice due to the county experiencing one of the most significant flood disasters in its history.

School officials said so many of their families are displaced and their job as a school district is to look out for every child’s welfare. Officials expressed sympathy for their students and athletes who cannot participate in spring activities at this time but stated that the district has been advised legally not to put anyone in a potentially harmful situation. Officials said they will reassess the situation regarding student activities and sports next week.

According to officials, the district is not currently on NTI but is closed for further notice. Activities will reportedly resume once the floodwaters begin to recede significantly. They also said a message will be sent out early next week to explain when Disaster NTI Days might resume.
