Ryan Hines/Hopkins County Jail mugshot
Two Madisonville men were arrested on drug and firearm charges after a traffic stop on South Main Street Wednesday afternoon.
Madisonville Police reported that officers stopped a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Ryan Hines for a tinted license plate that was illegible and for swerving. When making contact with Hines and his passenger, 26-year-old Mar’Keil Foster, officers said they could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police said as Foster got out of the vehicle, he threw a marijuana blunt under the vehicle that he was trying to hide.
During a search, police reportedly found 12 grams of marijuana, digital scales, a meth pipe with white residue, drug paraphernalia, and multiple jars with marijuana residue. In the vehicle, police said they also found two loaded firearms, one of which was stuffed under a child’s booster seat, endangering the child and others in the immediate area.
Foster was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence, and trafficking marijuana, while Hines was charged with possession of meth and marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and wanton endangerment. Both men were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
