During a special called meeting Tuesday night, the Madisonville City Council not only approved the second readings of two amended ordinances but also adopted the updated 2025 Personnel Policy.
Council Chairman Frank Stevenson presided over the meeting and welcomed the new additions Ward 2 Councilman Marvin Hightower and Ward 6 Councilwoman Glenda Wade as they begin their first term serving on the city council.
During the council committee reports, Ward 3 Councilman Adam Townsend nominated Stevenson to continue serving as the chairman of the city council, a nomination that received unanimous approval.
In new business, City Clerk Kim Blue presented the second reading of an amended ordinance concerning residential use in the Central Business District, which was unanimously approved.

In other action, an Interlocal Agreement with Hopkins County for the joint management and operation of the new YAA Sports Facility was approved by council members.
The City Council approved several reappointments along with an appointment to the Hopkins County Tourism Advisory Board, an appointment to the Hopkins County Joint Planning Commission, and City Council Committee assignments.
