Hopkins County Officials Warn of Impending Severe Weather, Flooding Risks

At the Fiscal Court meeting on Tuesday morning, Hopkins County Emergency Management Director Nick Bailey briefed magistrates on the severe weather and flooding forecasted to hit the region in the next few days.

Bailey informed the magistrates about the flooding expected, compared to the impact of the February flooding event in the county.

click to download audioIn addition to the anticipated rainfall, Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield urged residents to have an alternative method, other than storm sirens, for receiving any potential severe weather warnings.

click to download audioDuring the February flooding event, Bailey mentioned that they worked five vehicle water rescues, along with providing assistance to Caldwell County which resulted in a fatality.

Bailey urged everyone to remain vigilant about the potential for flooding over the next few days.
