Man Arrested for Meth Trafficking After Hopkins County Traffic Stop

A Henderson man was arrested for drug trafficking after a traffic stop on Interstate 69 in Hopkins County Thursday afternoon.

Madisonville Police reported that 51-year-old Michael Mallard was stopped shortly before 3:30 p.m. when he changed lanes without a signal. When officers Mallard, they reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, police said they found digital scales in the glove box with white residue on them, along with a black box with marijuana inside in the trunk, and a large amount of meth in the floor board on the driver’s side. When searching Mallard, officers reportedly found suspected meth by his genitals.

Mallard was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana and trafficking meth.
